Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will kick off the first episode of his monthly talk show program next Saturday to promote the government’s work, a source said.

The program, which has not yet been named, is intended to keep the public informed about the government’s work and policies once a month, the source said on Friday.

According to the source, each episode will be shot in a studio or at outdoor locations and will be a follow-up to government projects in various areas. The show will feature casual conversations.

The first episode will air on May 11 on Channel 11 of the Government Public Relations Department’s National Broadcasting Service of Thailand (NBT) and MCOT Plc’s radio networks, the source said, adding that the show will also be streamed on social media platforms .

The prime minister plans to talk about how his trips abroad can benefit Thailand, the source said.

Several previous governments broadcast talk show programs about their views, policies and opinions on issues and to keep the public informed of their efforts.

In 2001, then Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra conducted a program entitled The Prime Minister talks to people via Radio Thailand and 144 stations of the PR Network every Saturday.

The Yingluck Shinawatra administration also held a program titled The Prime Minister meets people via radio channels every Saturday in 2011.

Former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha started his weekly talk show titled Bringing happiness back to the nation shortly after power in the country was seized in 2014 by the now defunct National Council for Peace and Order.
