All four Lee Health Hospitals achieve grades of ‘A’ and ‘B’ from Leapfrog Group | News, sports, jobs

This week, the Leapfrog Group released its hospital safety ratings for spring 2024, and all four Lee Health hospitals received top scores. They are among just 29% of hospitals in the country seeking to achieve a spring 2024 score. “A” figure.

HealthPark Medical Center, Cape Coral Hospital and Lee Memorial Hospital all received one “A” degree and Gulf Coast Medical Center earned a “B.” This marks the 13th consecutive reporting period in which all Lee Health hospitals have received a grade of a “B” or higher.

HealthPark Medical Center earned a “A” figure for the 11th reporting period in a row, and Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral Hospital maintained their marks “A” streak for the fourth consecutive reporting period. As of 2018, Gulf Coast Medical Center has a “A” in 10 reporting periods and has twice a “B.”

Stephanie Stovall, Chief Clinical Officer of Quality/Safety and Hospital Care for Lee Health. “These high numbers speak to the compassionate and attentive care patients can expect at one of our hospitals and encourage us to continually grow and improve our already high standard of care.”

The Safety Grade awards letter grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” And “F” to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, hospital-acquired infections and other harms. Every Lee Health hospital achieved a raw score above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Developed under the guidance of a national panel of experts, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 22 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute care hospitals twice a year. The Leapfrog Group rating system is peer-reviewed, completely transparent, and free to the public. The data used for the current assessment comes from last year’s reporting.

Children’s hospitals are not included in The Leapfrog Group’s Spring figures, but Golisano Children’s Hospital has been named a Top Children’s Hospital six times by The Leapfrog Group.
