Letter: In response to Mr Kramer’s column

I would like to thank Mr. Kramer for reading my letter to the editor. Unfortunately, Mr. Kramer, the fact that you are making certain assumptions about what I wrote shows that you know nothing about me. You’re right: I have voted for Democratic politicians in the past. I also voted for independent and Republican politicians. I try to vote for the best candidate for each specific office. Sometimes I’m very disappointed with who I voted for. Unfortunately, Mr. Kramer, I voted for Brad Finstad for Congress in the last election. I really regret my error in judgment. But unlike “our” congressman, who seems unable to learn from his mistakes by continuing to vote against aid to Ukraine, I can learn from my mistakes. I will not vote for Mr Finstad in the coming elections.

Mr. Kramer, in your MPV column you suggest that I support the financing of foreign wars for profit motives. You clearly don’t know anything about me. I don’t support war. But I ask you, Mr. Kramer, what would you do if you had an evil neighbor who came to your house and started beating you; rape and kill your wife; steal your belongings; blow up your house; and kidnapping your children, including forcing them never to speak their native language and indoctrinating them to hate you. This horrible neighbor then comes back every day and continues to beat you, telling you that you have no right to exist and that you will eventually be killed. This is what Putin and Russia do to Ukrainians every day. Wouldn’t you yourself call for help and rightly fight back? Furthermore, you state that my reasoning is ‘horrible’. I would like to say that it is appalling to have a member of Congress, like Mr. Finstad, denying aid to our ally Ukraine, a democratic country that is fighting a war for survival. This denial of aid to Ukraine supports our enemy – the murderous dictator Putin; and thereby perpetuate continued Russian aggression.

Finally, Mr. Kramer, I believe I have determined that you do not know me or know anything about me. If you insist on including me in your columns, I will ask you to show me a little courtesy and address me as Dr. Skorin.

Thank you.

Leonid Skorin Jr.
