Twins placed Buxton on the injured list due to inflammation in a difficult knee; antsy Lewis is still recovering

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Twins placed center fielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list Friday due to inflammation in his troublesome right knee. With cautious optimism, his latest absence can be minimized.

Buxton left the Chicago game early Wednesday after experiencing soreness in the knee that he underwent two surgeries on and limited him to a designated hitter role last season. The discomfort caused him to stop short while trying to steal second base for the third straight time after the first two attempts were thwarted by foul balls.
