Netizens rub salt in Brooks Koepka & Co’s wounds as nightmare scenario threatens $25 million event in Singapore

Brooks Koepka had yet to hit the starting gun when Mother Nature unleashed her wrath on Sentosa. Thunderstorms with huge gusts of wind halted Saturday’s round in Lion City. LIV Golf Singapore is likely to start four hours later than the scheduled time. The PIF-funded squad had so far managed to avoid the bad weather that has plagued the PGA Tour this season.

The ongoing CJ Cup Byron Nelson was postponed by an hour on Thursday due to rain. And in Singapore, LIV officials are faced with an AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am-like situation when the final round was canceled altogether. Netizens suggest that Norman & Co. should follow this example because apparently “no one cares” about LIV Golf.

According to Weather.com, thunderstorms are expected to continue until 3:00 PM local time. Precipitation is expected to reach 68% on Saturday, with temperatures reaching 78F. The chance of rain will remain above 60% until 1:00 PM local time. According to LIV Golf’s official website, the second round of the $25 million LIV Golf Singapore will not start before 1:15 PM local time (1:15 AM EDT).

The gates are also closed. Sentosa Club will tentatively open around 12.15pm. But that could change depending on how the storm progresses. It will also be cloudy on Sunday, with a 49% chance of rain.

The early forecast called for a thunderstorm late Friday. Last year, LIV Golf Singapore also had to deal with a rain delay of two and a half hours in the opening round. The weather again halted the match for over an hour on Sunday Talor Gooch in between his spectacular round. While LIV Golf fans hoped the round would resume quickly, others took the opportunity to attack the leading group.

Netizens claim that no one cares about LIV Golf

The time zone difference makes it more problematic for foreign fans. For example, when Jon Rahm tees off, it would be around 4 a.m. in his native country. In most parts of the US it would be around midnight to early morning when the second round finally starts.

One fan tweeted: “The worst news to wake up to after a 3 hour nap in preparation for staying up all night lol. Also, a further delay could leave some players’ rounds uncompleted. However, some hoped a shotgun start would speed things up. “At least it’s a shotgun start. That will save a lot of time. Golf butt shotgun.

But others ask: who cares? Apart from the hugely successful LIV Golf Adelaide, the PIF-funded squad has struggled to attract attention. In fact, the PGA Tour still generated three times more linear TV viewers with a repeat AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am broadcast than LIV Golf Mayakoba.

One fan joked: “Just have to cancel the event. Nobody cares.Another was at his sarcastic best and replied:Thank you to all 3 attendees for the update.” “It’s okay lol. Nobody’s looking anyway” a third commented under LIV Golf’s official post.

Some even took the opportunity to poke fun at PIF’s $700 billion war chest. LIV Golf has lured a handful of PGA Tour stars who spent more than $100 million each. But can Greg Norman buy Mother Nature? They’ll definitely try that, one fan joked.
