‘Look between H and L’: Boss puts a spin on appraisal news using viral trends

Social media is a constant meme generator. As you scroll through it, an image, video, or reference is sure to pop up that you can’t possibly understand. If you’ve used social media recently, you’ve probably opened your keyboard above average. Because the latest trend encourages users to look “between” specific characters on their keyboard. These messages start with an extravagant detail and then instruct you to check between the H and L keys, which correspond to the letters J and K – in a nutshell – just kidding. People have used this trend to ridicule others, including this woman’s boss.

What did this woman’s boss do? He announced to the staff via text message that everyone was being assessed. Then in the next message, the boss asked them to look between the letters H and L – which is of course JK, or just a joke. The woman shared the screenshot of the messages on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The caption for the post read: “My boss must be hesitant.”

The post was viewed more than 3 million times on the microblogging site.

Users in the comments section were devastated by the woman’s predicament.
