​In the eighth and final episode of Lovely Runner we go back in time to January 1, 2023. Sun Jae is impatient and opens a time capsule earlier. He finds a letter from Im Sol expressing her gratitude. Once Sun Jae realizes that his stalker is none other than Im Sol, he is eager to find her. They meet on a bridge and Im Sol invites Sun Jae to spend the night with her. Sun Jae, although shocked, agrees and forgoes an afterparty. He goes to a hotel with Im Sol. Along the way they talk candidly about each other.

It turns out that Im Sol believes they are going to make love, but is embarrassed when she hears that Sun Jae just wants to talk in private. Both pretend they didn’t try to find the time capsule. Speculation is rife about Sun Jae’s whereabouts. Im Sol is determined to save Sun Jae from prying eyes. They eventually share a passionate kiss, despite interruptions. Ultimately, Sun Jae falls victim to an attack by a recently released man. Im Sol is shocked and wonders how it all happened. Could it be that Sun Jae’s “suicide” wasn’t a suicide at all, but a murder? And is that why Im Sol can’t change his fate, even though she continues to make sure he’s happy?

What is the plot of Beautiful runner?

Beautiful runner is a K-drama series with sci-fi and comedy elements, but these are largely in service of a deeply felt romantic story. A young woman named Im Sol (Hye Yoon) is a big fan of musician Ryu Sun Jae (Woo Seok). One day her world ends when she hears that Sun Jae committed suicide. While mourning his death, she goes back in time to 2008, when Sun Jae was still a teenager.

At first she is elated as she believes her new time travel skills could allow her to undo Sun Jae’s tragic fate, but as she discovers this becomes easier said than done. Will her feeble attempts to change the past pay off? Is it even possible? If she succeeds, will there be unforeseen effects in the form of changes in her and Sun Jae’s story that she didn’t intend?

This K-drama series is based on a web novel called The best of tomorrow by Kim Bbang. Kim Tae Yeop and Yoon Jong Ho directed the episodes. Lee Shi Eun wrote the episode scripts.
