Sheboygan County youth theater company hosts ‘Story Surf’n!’

PLYMOUTH – Youth Theater Company presents “Story Surf’n!” at the Plymouth Arts Center at 7pm on May 10 and 11 and 2pm on May 12.

A press release said of the show: “Everything from the greatest cowboy who ever lived, ‘Pecos Bill,’ to ‘The King’s Rice Pudding,’ a Dutch folk tale and much more in between. We’ll be telling some classic fables from the Old World, some European folktales, stories and music from Nigeria and South America, and a few ‘way beyond’ stories you’ve never heard of!’

Performers in the show range in age from “seasoned” performers to children in the single digits.

Featured adult actors include Jessica Ford, Sarah Grebe, Andrea Gutschow, Katrina Johns, Jim Nass, Matt Overby, Jeremy Schellin, Pat Connors-Scherer, Lara Schmitz, Justin Schmitz, Tim Talen, Bob Travis, Natalie Voight and Evelyn Wilterdink.

Young actors include Evelyn Beger, Easton Garty, Katerina Garty, Lily Grebe, Breeley Gutschow, Isabella Gutschow, Abbi O’Malley, Kendall Rooker, Sage Rooker, Charlie Schellin, Penelope Schmitz, Ava Versch, Emma Versch, Will Versch, Ruby Voight and McKinley Winkler.

Featured local musicians will be part of the “Story Surf’n!” band: musical director Cindy Howley on keyboards, Keith Abler and Frank Gatyas on guitar, Steve Gumieny on drums and percussion, Tim Talen on percussion and Karen Mani on violin.

Bonnie and Dean Jaeger are the lighting and sound directors and Kendra Ford is the costume coordinator.

“Story Surf’n!” is led by Patty Talen, director and choreographer of the community theater company for many years. This performance marks the 36th anniversary of the Youth Theater Company of Sheboygan County.
