Chicago Department of Aviation, major airlines reach agreement on O’Hare renewal project

CHICAGO (CBS) — The Chicago Department of Aviation has reached an agreement with major airlines for the planned renewal project at O’Hare Airport.

It’s being called a huge step as airlines including Chicago-based United and American have agreed to move forward with the project after months of delays.

The new plan calls for Terminal 1 and the new Global Terminal to be built first, with the remaining money going towards the construction of Terminal 2.

“The Global Terminal has always been the critical component needed to ensure Chicago maintains its status as a global hub. This new phasing plan allows us to most quickly deliver the most impactful elements of the modernization project,” United Airlines said in a statement .
