Rain delay updates from Busch Stadium

Talk about terrible timing.

The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox entered the bottom of the tenth inning at Busch Stadium with the home team trailing 6-5. But the Cardinals were threatening, as second baseman Nolan Gorman stepped into the batter’s box with the bases loaded with two outs on the board. Gorman had a chance not only to tie the game, but to win it.

White Sox reliever John Brebbia also got a chance to close out the game, ending their four-game losing streak.

The point is that the skies opened up and a heavy rain fell. When home plate umpire CB Bucknor met with Brebbia and Gorman, the Busch Stadium grounds crew brought out the tarp. That’s right, bringing out the sail with only one left until the possible end of the game.

Cardinals and White Sox fans at home may be wondering: When will the game return?

At the time of writing, there is no official update on when the game will restart. According to the Weather Channel, there is a 93 percent chance of thunderstorms at 5:00 PM CT. By 6:00 PM CT, rain chances will drop to 23 percent.
