Dublin v Louth-Leinster football final

By Conor Martin

Dublin and Louth will battle it out for the right to lift the Delaney Cup this Sunday when the pair meet for the second year in a row in the Leinster Senior Football Final in Croke Park (1.45pm).

The match is part of a double header with the LGFA Leinster Final, which sees Dublin Ladies play Meath (11.45am).

Match tickets for the double header are available here.

Dublin have won the last 13 editions of the Leinster Football Championship, dating back to 2011.

Comfortable wins over Meath and Offaly in the quarter- and semi-finals saw Dessie Farrell’s men deservedly earn their place in the 2024 Leinster final.

Seán Bugler, Paul Mannion and Con O’Callaghan were the men among the goals against the Royals in the last eight.

O’Callaghan found the net against Offaly alongside Niall Scully and Colm Basquel. The experienced trio Mannion, Ciarán Kilkenny and Cormac Costello brought us home in style.

Louth look to have put their Allianz Football League Division 2 campaign behind them. The Wee County finished sixth in the second division with three wins and four defeats to their name.

Their provincial campaign got off to a flying start with a 4-10 to 0-15 win over Wexford in Portlaoise.

Captain Sam Mulroy led the charge 2-4, while Ciaran Downey also grabbed a brace for himself in the comfortable win.

In the semi-final, Louth punished a wasteful Kildare, with Mulroy once again having a huge say in the outcome of the semi-final. As does Mulroy. Conor Grimes, Downey and Ryan Burns were all impressed.

This Sunday’s Leinster final is a historic one for Louth; it is their first consecutive provincial final since achieving the feat in 1958, when they lost to Dublin in the Leinster final a year after winning it in 1957.
