Ronnie O’Sullivan has suggested a number of minor adjustments which he says would improve players’ experience at The Crucible, amid concerns over the location of the World Snooker Championship.

O’Sullivan, 48, has won the world title seven times, a joint record. However, he failed to reach eighth place in 2024, falling to Stuart Bingham in the quarter-finals in Sheffield.

The experienced professional has never been afraid to voice his concerns, both in front of opponents and at venues. He targeted the ‘dirty’ site of Alexandra Palace in January and has recently been embroiled in a war of words with rival Ali Carter.

In April, O’Sullivan proposed moving the championships to The Crucible, where the tournament has been held since the 1970s. He appears to have softened that stance after seeing some improvements this year, but still believes more can be done.

“I think it’s a little bit dated. It could maybe be updated,” O’Sullivan said, per Metro. “It could have some better facilities here where the players can relax and maybe have some nice food on site so you don’t have to keep bringing it in.

“I like that they have a courtesy car here this year, so you don’t have to run through the hall every time you come here. You don’t mind coming to the hall now. It’s the first time in year so that’s really a plus.

“I get scones delivered to my room before my game and that’s something you don’t have to worry about. They’ve started making these little improvements. But if you really put down a wish list… I think the location could be even better.” friendly towards players Relaxation rooms maybe, more practice tables, maybe two more practice tables maybe, a nice locker room with showers maybe.

“If you get a smart interior designer or an architect here, you can tear down all the walls and start over. Maybe make it bigger, better and more modern. Who knows.”
