Gen V producers reveal how the late Chance Perdomo’s character will be handled

Fans of Gen V are still reeling from the untimely death of Chance Perdomo. How will the series handle his death and the story of his character, Andre Anderson?

Few things are as shocking to a TV show as the departure of a key cast member. Unless it has to do with an unexpected death. The cleaning lady was faced with this challenge when Adan Canto, who played the male lead, Arman Morales, passed away from cancer in early 2024. The producers knew that Canto was ill and therefore used some old footage to set up Arman’s kidnapping in the hope that Canto would do so. back for the season finale. Unfortunately, Canto was much sicker than he let on and his death was a blow to the show. They ended up using some CGI trickery to show Arman sacrificing his life to save Thony and sending a car carrying him and some enemies off a cliff.

It was certainly a tricky issue, and one Gen V producers now face. Tragically, Perdomo died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024. That has delayed production Gen V Season 2 and the question of how the writers will handle Andre’s story is paramount. The producers of the superhero series have shared what their plans are.

Gen V

The main question was whether the producers would recast Andre, as it’s clear the character would play an important role Gen V season 2. However, in a statement on Instagram, the team made it clear that they would not be recasting Andre’s role at all. We shared the statement below:

“As we continue to cope with the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is committed to finding the best way to show respect for his memory. We will not recast the role because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we’ve taken the time and space to reshape Season 2’s storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”

This is an important twist because it leads to the question of how the show will address Andre’s absence. In season 1 of the spin-off of The boys, we learn that the show is set at Godolkin University, which is supposedly training a new generation of super-powered beings. In reality, it is intended to see which children are best manipulated by those in power. André was among them. As the son of a famous hero, he was able to manipulate magnetic fields in hopes of following in his father’s footsteps. Like his fellow students, Andre learned the hard way that Vought International didn’t care about them and that his father wasn’t that great of a guy.

The first season ended with Andre and others being held captive in a laboratory while being publicly blamed for a large number of victims on campus. Unfortunately, the most obvious option would be for Andre to be subjected to some sort of experiment that resulted in his off-screen death. That would be bad, but it seems like the show’s only way to deal with him is suddenly gone.

It’s a blow to the series, but it fits well with the rest of the series Gen V gang trying to find justice for Andre with clear tributes to Perdomo. It’s a sad situation that everyone would much rather not have seen, but it seems like it Gen V season 2 will have a melancholic tone, saying goodbye to both Andre and Perdomo to give fans some closure.
