Crusaders vs Coleraine: European play-off final

Dean Jarvis took a throw-in on the left flank, which was cleverly headed by Matthew Shevlin into the path of McGonigle, who cut inside from the left and fired a shot under the body of Jonny Tuffey from an acute angle.

In a first half with few chances, Ben Kennedy curled a free kick narrowly wide for the home team.

But the match was turned on its head when Crusaders struck twice in just over a minute.

First the home side stretched Coleraine on the left and the ball was worked through Philip Lowry and Paul Heatley to the onrushing left-back O’Rourke, who found the net with an assured right foot.

Just over 60 seconds later the Crusaders were in front when Coleraine skipper Stephen O’Donnell lost his balance trying to make a clearance and defender Daniel Larmour was on hand to fire home the loose ball, via a deflection from the ground standing O’Donnell.

Coleraine squandered a great chance to level on the hour mark when Jamie McGonigle latched onto a through ball from Dean Jarvis and slotted it past the outrushing Tuffey, but the striker could only put his effort into the side netting.

However, the Bannsiders managed to improve the tie after 70 minutes with a goal of absolute quality.
