V-Cs, academics accuse Rahul of spreading rumors and seek action under law | India News

As many as 181 vice chancellors and academics wrote an open letter on Monday contradicting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that “appointment of V-Cs is made solely on the basis of their affiliation with certain organizations and not on the basis of merit and qualifications ”. The signatories have demanded appropriate action against him in accordance with the law.

“Considering that Shri Rahul Gandhi has resorted to lies and defamed the Office of the Vice Chancellors in general… It is… earnestly prayed that immediate appropriate action is taken against him in accordance with law,” it said the letter.

The letter, titled ‘Torchbearers set on fire’, read: ‘We strongly urge all concerned individuals to use discernment in distinguishing fact from fiction, to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors, and to engage in a dialogue that is informed, constructive and supportive of our support. common goal: creating a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.”

Those who signed the letter include Prof GD Sharma, President, Association of Indian Universities, and VC, USTM, Meghalaya; Prof Vinay Pathak, Vice President, Association of Indian Universities, and VC, CSJM, Kanpur; Prof Pankaj Mittal, General Secretary, Association of Indian Universities, and former VC, BPSMV, Sonipat; Dr. TG Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, and former Director, IIT Guwahati; Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, NETF, UGC and Past Chairman, AICTE.
