Back to back Stakes wins for Bet N Win

Bet and win (What the hill) showed he is on track for his upcoming Australian running campaign with his dominant win in the $40,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Uncut Gems Trotters Classic (2600m) at Addington on Friday evening.

The NZB Standardbred graduate turned the black type into a one-act with his strong win ahead of trainers David and Stacey White and driver Bob Butt.

Bet N Win was purchased by David White for $32,500 when the square gaiter was offered by breeder-sellers Breckon Farms at the 2021 National Yearling Sales in Karaka.

The trotter started as heavy favorite on Friday evening after his last start victory in the Listed Sires Stakes Aged Classic (2600m) at Addington.

After putting in strong work since then, there was enough confidence in the White camp that Bet N Win could pull off back-to-back Black wins.

“His work since his last run has been truly exceptional,” David White told Harness Racing Unhinged.

“We were pretty confident with how he was going to go, but they have yet to come out and do it.”

Bet N Win’s Uncut Gems win came just a matter of days after the announcement that the trotter had been invited to the Group One Great Square Trot (2138m) at the upcoming Queensland Winter Carnival.

The White stable can’t wait to cross the Tasman and tackle the main event.

“We’re really looking forward to it and it looks like a perfect race for him,” said White.

Bet N Win made a smart start with his 10-yard handicap in Friday night’s fixture.

In the blink of an eye the trotter was outside the leader before quickly holding the lead.

Butt set a strong pace with Bet N Win, with the trotter racing home in a sharp final 800m of 56.6 seconds before recording a winning time of 3:15.3.

“He’s a good horse at the start, that was a good trot tonight – 3.15,” Butt said.

Both Bet N Win’s sire What The Hill and his breeders Breckon Farms will be represented at the 2024 National Weanling Sale on May 23.

Breckon Farms will offer Lot 108a Captain treacherous (USA) colt from the family of brilliant performers King Of Swing (Rock’nroll Hannover) and Bettor Twist (Gambler’s delight).

What the hill (CAN) will be represented by 12 youngsters that will be sold in the Karaka sales ring.
