Kendall Jenner’s butt-baring Met Gala look is making fashion history

Can you keep up with all the fashion? Because Kendall Jenner just hit the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala.

Marking her ninth appearance at the event, held on May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the supermodel turned heads in a 1999 Givenchy Haute Couture look, which featured a sheer cutout that offered a glimpse of showing her backside. As Kendall explained Fashion on the red carpet she writes fashion history as the ‘first person to wear’ the garment. That’s right, the dress was kept in the Givenchy archives prior to the Met Gala and will return immediately after the event.

And that’s why Kendall couldn’t tailor the outfit. Luckily, she noted, “It was just a perfect fit.”

The 28-year-old’s look, a nod to this year’s theme ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, consists of 100,000 beads and sequins. According to the fashion house, the dress took 500 hours to embroider by hand.

Over the years, Kendall has become an important part of the event. In fact the Kardashians star served up one of her most memorable looks at the 2023 Met Gala, donning a sassy Marc Jacobs bodysuit.
