Rohit Sharma through the lens of Yuvraj Singh

From a personal perspective, Yuvraj recalled his first impression of Rohit, who joined the Indian team at the age of 17, and praised the Indian captain, highlighting his humility, camaraderie and leadership qualities both on and off the field.

“Very bad English,” Yuvraj said jokingly. “Very funny guy. We always tease him from the streets of Borivali (in Mumbai). But a great guy through and through.

“The more success he has had, he has never changed as a person. That’s the beauty of Rohit Sharma. Fun-loving, always having fun with the boys, a great leader on the park and one of my best friends from cricket.

“I really want to see Rohit Sharma with a World Cup trophy and a World Cup medal. He really deserves it.”
