Members are asked to check the Competition draws and start arranging games by mutual agreement where possible. Competitions can now be played on a Sunday afternoon on QRI Bowls days. The next two QRI Sundays are Sunday May 19th and Sunday May 26th.

DISTRICT SIDES CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Cameron Walker, Keegan Lankowski and Keith Whalley for being selected in the Bundaberg District Team to contest the District Sides Championship being held at Broadbeach Bowls Club from Wednesday the 8th of May through to Saturday the 11th of May. Some of the games will be live streamed via the Gold Coast Tweed media team and can be viewed through their Facebook page or via YouTube.

SOCIAL BOWLS EVENTS

Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours. If you cannot get through to the club number regarding bowls, then please phone 0403531304.

Tuesday 7th May: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

Wednesday 8th May: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $10 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prize money. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.

Thursday 9th May: Night Bowls – bowls start at 6.30pm, names in by 6pm. Bowl under lights and enjoy a fun filled night with a chance at the ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot which will be $340+ this week. Visitors and those that want to try bowls for the first time will be made to feel very welcome.

Friday 10th May: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

Saturday 11th May: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

COMING EVENTS

Tuesday 14th May: 50/50 Day where 50 percent of the green fees for the day is returned as prize money.

Friday 17th May: Visit by 40 Sunshine Coast Social bowlers. We will require Burnett members to play against the visitors, so if possible, please make yourself available to help host the visitors on this date as it is a great way to meet new people and to play bowls against someone new.

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING:

The Management Committee of Burnett Bowls Club has called a Special General Meeting to be held at the Club on Saturday the 18th of May at 10.00am. All members are requested to attend.

CLUB NEWS 

Please Note: NEW Club opening hours are as follows – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 11am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11.30am – 9pm, Thursday 4.30pm – 9pm, Friday 11am – 9.30pm, Saturday 11am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.

The Goose Club raffle will be drawn on Friday night 10th May at 7pm – Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased during the week from the Bar staff or on Friday night. There are 15 great prizes to be won – you need to be in it to win it! Proceeds from the raffle help to support your Club.

The Member’s Draw will also be held on Friday night 10th May and stands at $970, so come along, have a meal and a few drinks with the chance to win some great cash and prizes.

There will be live entertainment on Friday 10th May presented by ‘Old Bones’ and the following Friday 17th May entertainment will be provided by ‘The Other Bloke’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.

Ladies Day: Today we presented another of our Ladies with her veterans badge for reaching the ripe old age of 70!

Fiona Dowling presented the badge to Lesley Christensen, (my gosh that’s me, how did I get to be 70 so quickly?) before a enjoyable afternoon of bowls played in perfect conditions.

Four games in the Open Mixed Pairs Competition, one of which had a final score with a difference of one point and two games with a difference of two points! Amazing bowls played by all participants and throughly enjoyed by a large crowd of spectators!
