A first! Live TV from Trail Orienteering

The TempO final of the European TrailO Championships (ETOC) will be broadcast on Finnish TV and IOF TV as it takes place around the Paavo Nurmi Stadium in Turku, Finland on Sunday afternoon, September 12.e Be able to.

This is a first for TrailO, with the entire orienteering world now able to experience the thrill and excitement as the final phase of the TempO competition reaches its climax, with Europe’s top elite battling it out for medals. The Finn Petteri Hakala is the defending champion.

In a departure from normal practice, spectators can enter the site and watch the participants’ progress via all TempO stations in the final.

There are 131 athletes from 17 countries registered for the championships that start on September 7e Be able to. There is a PreO event over 2 days and a relay, all with both O (Open) and P (Physically Challenged) classes, and an all-in TempO event with qualifying in the morning and the final, for the best 36 from the heats, in the afternoon. For the first time, countries can enter two juniors in each of the classes and formats, and several have taken advantage of this opportunity. The youngest, Albert Forst from the Czech Republic, is 14 years old and undoubtedly well trained by his father and mother, both top-class trail orienteers. His father is also on the Czech team.

Typical Finnish terrain is promised, which means lots of rocks and some very subtle contour and vegetation details. The event is quite compact, with all locations a short distance from the city and accessible by public transport. To acclimatize everyone, there are 4 days of pre-ETOC competition, including a 2-day PreO event, a World Ranking Event, and in the 2024 European Cup for TrailO series.

A report and key results from each ETOC day will be posted on the IOF homepage.
