After weeks of diss tracks between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, reports are surfacing that Schoolboy Q warned J. Cole to bow out before things get intense.

At this year’s Dreamville Festival, J. Cole shocked the world by withdrawing his name from the biggest hip-hop battle of all time. After Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse dissed the Dreamville boss and Drake, Cole fired back with “7 Minute Drill.” The song got social media buzzing and primed for what was to come next in the feud. Unfortunately, this was followed by an apology from J. Cole and news that the song would be removed from streaming services.

“I pray my na really didn’t have any feeling, and if he did, my na, I stuck out my chin. Do your best, I’m gonna do that shit on the chin, boy, do what you do. – J. Cole said he was reversing his position on “7 Minute Drill.”

For weeks we wondered what J. Cole discovered that made him immediately start filing pleas, regardless of what it might look like to someone else.

According to AllHipHop, Schoolboy Q was kind enough to let Cole know that the real shooting was about to begin and that he had to dive.

“I’m not going to specify what kind of warning it was – whether it was a bullying move, a Deebo-like maneuver or just a friendly heads-up. “I don’t think it matters right now, but based on what Punch (TDE president) said, I think they gave him what he needed to come out of the fight with as much grace as possible.” from AllHipHop revealed.

If you know anything about Schoolboy Q, you know how unintentionally funny he is, so we like to imagine it was hilarious when he told Cole the seriousness of the situation. Looking back, we don’t think anyone will disagree that J. Cole made the right decision. Cole claimed he had been “sleeping well” for the past decade before calling it quits.

Plus, if Kendrick hadn’t given in, we’re sure he would have ruined that peaceful sleep by now.

Does this change your opinion of Cole’s grace bow and apology?
