PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif seeks acquittal in Toshakhana case

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo has filed a plea for acquittal in the Toshakhana case, as reported by The Express Tribune. The petition, filed by Nawaz’s counsel Rana Muhammad Arif Khan at the Islamabad accountability court, seeks relief from the accused, including President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani.

The public prosecutor representing the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the court that the request has been forwarded to the NAB headquarters. The court issued notices on Nawaz’s plea on May 23 and adjourned the hearing to June 3. Earlier, NAB acquitted Nawaz in a reference related to the purchase of a luxury vehicle from the Toshakhana, citing Supreme Court directions and lack of use of funds from an alleged account linked to Nawaz for the purchase of the vehicle.
