Carol L. de Castro – Hot Springs Village voice

Carol Laverne (Johnson) de Castro of Eden Prairie, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2024 at the age of 92.

Carol was born on February 17, 1932 in Morris, Minnesota to Stanley William (“Tiny”) Johnson and Ethel Mae (Trapp) Johnson. She grew up with her parents and older sister Shirley in Morris and Northfield, MN.

She met her husband, Fred de Castro, at St. Olaf College in Northfield. They had four children and lived in many places over the years, including North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Michigan. They retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where they lived for 23 years and were active members of the community there.

Carol was an accomplished bowler, golfer, Bridge Life master and a great storyteller. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends in many states.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband Fred de Castro, her parents and sister Shirley (Roald) Kindem. She is survived by her daughters Dana Anderson, Dawn (Joel) Gringorten, Terry (Andrew Spear) de Castro, son David (Patricia) de Castro, and four grandchildren.
