The Department of Tourism (DOT) and its marketing and promotion arm, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), are aiming to surpass the P1 billion in sales generated during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai by 2023.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco led the opening of the Philippine Pavilion at ATM 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), where she underscored the importance of the country’s participation in the event.

“I am so happy to join you all today at the Arab Travel Market, where the Philippines will make its mark as the emerging Muslim-friendly destination for 2023, and hopefully we could defend that same title, especially considering all the steps taken by our government to give priority to Muslim travelers from this region entering our country,” she said.

Frasco attributed the Philippines’ successful ATM 2023 participation to the hard work of tourism stakeholders.

The DOT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Megaworld Hotels and Resorts (MHR) to establish more Muslim-friendly properties in the Philippines during the opening of the Philippine Pavilion at ATM 2024.

“By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, all MegaWorld properties commit to being halal and Muslim-friendly properties in addition to being our partners in promoting our country brand, Love the Philippines as well. to ensure the Filipinization of resort properties across the country,” Frasco said.

MHR Director Cleofe Albiso said the group looks forward to working with the DOT to help the Philippines attract more Muslim tourists and create stronger ties with them.

“So I hope this MOU is just the beginning, and we are also enticing many of our stakeholders to do the same. Minister, you have our full commitment and we look forward to enlivening this partnership,” she said.

MHR will be DOT’s strategic partner in executing various initiatives including country branding, manpower training, product development and related programs.
