“I’m not good with female characters”: Masashi Kishimoto could have ruined Sasuke and Sakura if he hadn’t followed the advice of Naruto’s editor

The relationship between Sasuke and Sakura is one of the most discussed topics in Naruto. Fans have always argued over whether the two characters were right for each other or not. Nevertheless, Masashi Kishimoto managed to make it work, thanks to some advice he received from the series’ editor, Kosuke Yahagi.

Sasuke and Sakura

The relationship between Sasuke and Sakura is considered by many to be one of the most toxic relationships in anime history due to the way Sasuke treated Sakura. Due to his ambition to find his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke neglected and insulted Sakura’s feelings to a great extent. Ultimately, when the series ended, the two ended up together.

In 2014, Kishimoto revealed that he had no idea how to proceed with the three protagonists of his magnum opus, but Yahagi helped him create the perfect scenario for Naruto.
