‘Take the Chair, Make an Impact’ This Star Trek Day on September 8

In honor of Star Trek Dayannounces the franchise “Take the chair, make an impact,“a global campaign that encourages fans to embrace the optimistic vision of a better future and give back to the inclusive community of fans that Star Trek has promoted over the years. The Star Trek franchise is donating to Code.org, DoSomething.org and Outright International, while encouraging fans to give back through this global social effort.

On September 8, 1966, Star Trek first debuted on television and creator Gene Roddenberry introduced audiences to a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance and hope. Fifty-eight years later, Star Trek commemorates this important day and the franchise’s lasting legacy with the fifth annual Star Trek Celebration of the day, where fans can enjoy and celebrate everything in a memorable way Star Trek.

This year, Star Trek has collaborated with three global non-profit organizations that embody the values ​​of the franchise, including Code.orggiving every student from primary through secondary school the opportunity to learn computer science; DoeIets.org, empowering young people to change the world; and Direct international, advocate for LGBTIQ inclusion and equality worldwide. During the month of September, 25% of American product sales of selected items on the officially Star Trek Shop will benefit these three non-profit organizations.
