Gordon D’Arcy urges Leo Cullen not to mess with Leinster’s centres

EXCLUSIVE

Former Ireland legend Gordon D’Arcy has urged Leo Cullen not to tamper with Leinster’s centers ahead of the semi-final with Northampton.

Jamie Osboure played at first center and Robbie Henshaw at second center for the round of 16 and quarter-finals against Leicester Tigers and La Rochelle respectively.

And while reports from the Leinster camp say that centrally contracted IRFU Garry Ringrose may be fit again, D’Arcy is not in favor of changing a winning partnership – not least because it would be a ‘double’ change , with Henshaw having to move to the top spot. -Centre.

“Right now I’d pick Jamie Osborne and Robbie Henshaw,” says the former Ireland centre, who has made 82 appearances.

‘That may seem a bit harsh on Garry Ringrose, and it is, but there is nothing to suggest that you would want to break them up at this point.

“Jamie is essentially what a No12 would be, he offers a strong kicking game, that gainline threat and that second five-eighth distributor.

“Not that Robbie Henshaw isn’t comparable, but at the moment he’s very comfortable in the number 13 jersey and it would be difficult to get him out of there.

“With his layoff due to his injury, the onus is on Garry Ringrose to come back and meet that standard to force a decision for the coaches.”

“He’s just an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, his decision-making with ball in hand, he’s 6-foot-4, you can’t coach someone to be big.

“When you have a player like that who has all the skills, rugby is simple: you catch the ball, you pass, kick or run and he has all those skills on the ball.”
