“Why can’t we take our time with electric vehicles?”

WASHINGTON (WIBC) – Your congressman agrees that electric vehicles have a future in the United States, but he wants to take his time with the transition.

Congressman Greg Pence joined the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Commerce’s hearing on the Department of Energy budget this week, where he had time to question DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Pence argued that while he is in favor of electric vehicles, he believes the Biden administration’s “aggressive” push for electric cars and trucks is not in the best interests of the United States at this time. what we are doing is rolling out and supporting the auto industry so that they (car manufacturers) can sell more cars in China.”

Pence recalled the energy and electric vehicle roundtables he held in Indiana, where he was joined by developers and industry leaders. He says he has heard “one horror story after another” about the government’s stimulus work.

“Why can’t we be a little more careful and take our time to roll this out,” Pence asked Secretary Granholm, “why can’t the administration just take a timeout and reassess what’s happening on the ground? what my constituents tell me about?”

Granholm argued that the Biden administration is aware of the problems with electric vehicle stability, charger availability and the sometimes rough deployment of electric vehicle stations in both cities and rural areas.
