Reba McEntire wants to join the MCU and we know which character she should play
Reba McEntire may have a new television series on her hands with NBC’s Happy’s placebut the star has her sights set on the big screen – especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking with SiriusXM Hits 1 (via Entertainment weekly), McEntire revealed that she wants to join the MCU and that she already has an idea of what her superpower should be, although you wouldn’t expect that. McEntire said she would enjoy the superpower of talking to animals and it sounds like she’s really into the idea of being a cartoon character.
“I would love to do a Marvel comic,” McEntire said. “I want to be a female Reba McEntire Power Ranger or something like that in a Marvel movie.”

When asked about her choice of superpower, McEntire replied: “My superpower would be being able to talk to animals. Wouldn’t that be fun?”
Now a few things to note. Power Rangers are actually owned by Hasbro, but Marvel has published comic adaptations of them Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the late 1990s, but it seems like McEntire was referring more to the transformative and super-powerful aspect of things with her comments about it. There are also a handful of Marvel heroes who can actually talk to animals, including Squirrel Girl, and the MCU has already had a hero who can communicate with creatures – most notably Hank Pym, although he uses a device to do so instead of interacting with them ‘talk’. and it’s more of a situation where he controls them.

That said, we actually have an idea of where McEntire could ultimately be a good fit for the MCU: Mephisto. Marvel’s Devil is a character fans have been hoping to see ever since WandaVision and, more recently, he had numerous theories about Mephisto somehow being responsible for certain events in Agatha all the time. But even though the character’s name was dropped from the Disney+ series — which just aired its finale this week — Mephisto never showed up. Of Agatha all the time further setting up the MCU for more magical adventures as the series ended with Billy/Wiccan (Joe Locke) venturing out into the world with Ghost Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) to find his lost twin brother Tommy and with that series also bringing Death into the MCU had introduced with Aubrey Plaza’s Rio, it seems logical that we’ll get Mephisto at some point in the future. And since we have Death and Hela (played by Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok) the idea of bringing in a female Mephisto seems like a solid possibility.
But seriously, just imagine for a moment: three characters who are all somehow connected to concepts of hell and death and magic, played by three very different female actors, just seems like an intriguing opportunity. And while McEntire is known for her work in comedy with her current series Happy’s place In addition to her previous sitcom, Reba, McEntire can also do drama. She starred in the third season of ABC’s crime drama thriller, Big sky where she played the character Sunny Barnes. Of course, that doesn’t mean McEntire couldn’t bring a little humor to Mephisto. While the character is a bit on the sadistic and cruel side in comics, we’ve already seen dark characters have a sense of humor, especially with Agatha Harkness. It’s something McEntire could pull off – and that would be more interesting than just talking to animals.
As for McEntire’s current project, Happy’s placethat series airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
