The New Orleans Saints will face the Carolina Panthers in a pivotal game on Sunday afternoon in Week 9.
The Saints are currently on a six-game losing streak, mainly due to starting quarterback Derek Carr being sidelined with an oblique injury. Rookie Spencer Rattler has taken over the role at quarterback and in his third consecutive start, Rattler completed 12 of 24 passes for 156 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers. But the Saints struggled offensively in the Week 8 matchup, failing to find the end zone in the 26-8 loss.
Jake Haener eventually replaced Rattler in the third quarter of that game and completed nine of 17 pass attempts for 122 yards. Carr has returned to practice and is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Panthers.
The Panthers also face their own challenges. With a losing streak of five games and only one win this season, they are eager to turn the tide. The return of starting quarterback Bryce Young, who showed promise with 24 completions in 37 attempts for 224 yards and two touchdowns, wasn’t enough to get them past the Broncos, who handed them a 28-14 loss in Week 8.
