College GameDay predicts USC Trojans upset by Nebraska?
The USC Trojans were mentioned several times on ESPN’s College GameDay Saturday morning, but none of them were positive. This comes as no surprise as USC is coming off a disappointing 2024 season with a 4-5 record. GameDay was in Athens, Georgia, for the highly anticipated SEC showdown between Tennessee and Georgia.
The Trojans host the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM PT on FOX.
USC Trojans picked by Stanford Steve
The USC Trojans enter Saturday’s game against Nebraska as 7.5-point favorites. ESPN’s Stanford Steve said he likes the Cornhuskers in this spot. He chose Nebraska to cover the 7.5-point spread in the “SuperDogs” segment of College GameDay.
The crew said it would be Jayden Maiava’s first game starting under center at quarterback for USC.
“I’m not sure Miller Moss played that bad, but you gotta do something,” Rece Davis said.
Pete Thamel gives Julian Lewis recruitment update
Julian Lewis is a five-star quarterback in the class of 2025 who committed to the Trojans in August 2023. As National Day of Singing approaches, momentum has built for a last-minute commitment flip, not a good sign for USC.
ESPN reporter Pete Thamel appeared briefly on the show and provided an update on the Lewis situation.
“Julian Lewis, the nation’s No. 2 player from nearby Carrollton High School, is visiting Georgia today,” Thamel said. “He is committed to USC, he recently visited Colorado… it would be one of the biggest stories heading into signing day, where ‘Juju’ as he is known, ends up.”
Lewis had a spectacular performance in the Carrollton High Schools State Playoff game on Friday night.
“He threw for a whopping 293 yards for Carrollton last night, four touchdowns in the state playoff game,” Thamel said.
When was the last time there was good news for USC football?
There has been a flurry of commitment flips, coaching questions, a quarterback carousel, when will this end? Trojans coach Lincoln Riley and his team will try to put all of that on ice temporarily today with a win over Nebraska.
USC must win two of its final three games to make a bowl game.
