Grammy Award-winning Lainey Wilson honored at Baskin Louisiana
MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Grammy Award-winning artist Lainey Wilson was honored on November 16 in her hometown, Baskin Louisiana.
Not only does Wilson now have a portion of Highway 15 named after her, but she also received the 20th marker on the Northeast Louisiana Music Trail, and November 16 is now known as Lainey Wilson Day.
The Grammy Award-winning singer says she is “proud of her roots” and that without Baskin she wouldn’t be the artist she is today.
Wilson says, “They’re the kind of people who would do that. They’ll be there when you need them, and they’ll be there when you don’t. They’re just there. They’re family, they fight tooth and nail.” and nail for all they have. They take pride in working hard, and they take pride in working hard for their families. And so I’ve always tried to have that mentality, just like I do, even though I don’t have a family. At this point, my parents always taught me that like if you don’t just work for yourself, you’ve been working for generations and generations and generations. So that’s the kind of city I come from.
Lainey Wilson is in town for a two-day stop on her ‘Country’s Cool Again’ tour.
