Bo Nickal remains perfect with UFC 309 win over Paul Craig
Bo Nickal won again on Saturday at UFC 309, and he even did a little golf swing for newly elected President Donald Trump, who was in attendance, but it wasn’t pretty.
And the crowd let him know it, breaking out into an “overrated” chant, in the final seconds of his unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) victory over Paul Craig.
Nickal improved to 7-0 with the win. Craig fell to 17-9 overall.
“It’s an opportunity to see that there is still something to learn,” UFC commentator Daniel Cormier said before the decision was announced. “There’s still some work to be done before we see Bo Nickal out there with top guys.”
The crowd started to get excited again when Joe Rogan approached the former Penn State wrestling champion for the post-fight interview, and Rogan asked Nickal about it.
“I feel great, you know,” Nickal said. “I went out and dominated for 15 minutes.
“These guys want to see blood,” he said, acknowledging the crowd. “They expect me to knock everyone out in 25 seconds or choke them out in a minute, and the reality is these guys are all professional fighters.”
Nickal noted that he has only been fighting for about three years.
“I’m excited about that performance,” he said. “I dominated him. I cut it.
“I was happy with it.”
Nickal then said that people should “look at the greatest fighters of all time” because of the model he tries to follow.
“Jon Jones, GSP, Mighty Mouse, they win decisions against tough guys,” he said. “Paul Craig has 26 real fights, and I have six, you know? And I screamed at him for 15 minutes, so I’m excited.
