Shaun White gives an inside look at proposing to Nina Dobrev

Shaun White reveals how his surprise proposal to Nina Dobrev all went wrong!

The Olympic snowboarder, 36, shared behind-the-scenes footage on Instagram in late October of the proposal at the Golden Swan restaurant in New York City, along with their afterparty with family and friends to celebrate.

His video started with a recording The Vampire Diaries the actress’ shocked face as she entered the venue, followed by White proposing to her in front of a white rose arch with white petals scattered across the floor.

In the video, he can be heard telling an emotional Dobrev, 34, “Being with you is the adventure of my life” and “I love you.” You see her sobbing as he finally gets down on one knee to ask her, “Will you marry me?”

The actress nodded her head and said, “Yes,” as the athlete stood up to hug and kiss her. He then got back down on his knee and noticed that he ‘forgot’ to actually put the ring on her finger. “Oh yes!” she responded before they both burst out laughing. The clip ended with him putting on the ring and kissing her hand.

The couple, who started dating in 2019, popped some champagne before their family and friends entered the restaurant. Shaun threw up white flower petals as their family members cheered and congratulated them. The Degrassi alum held up her new engagement ring as she hugged her loved ones, and the video ended with a champagne toast.

“Still floating after this night! I am beside myself to be with this amazing woman and join her beautiful family!!” Shaun captioned the post.

“Our quarantine romance turned into a beautiful relationship and now an everlasting love. Believe me when I say that this app above all shows us at our best,” he continued. “Behind the scenes, like in any relationship, we have had our problems. But it is our ability to communicate and repair that keeps us moving forward together.”

“I am so grateful for the life lessons, gratitude, adventure and love that Nina has taught me, and I just want to show her the same in return. I think we’re fucking busy, baby! 🍾,” he closed the post. “Anyway… I’m not crying, you’re crying 😅😭.”

Dobrev shared additional details about the involvement with Fashionwhich revealed that the Olympian had his publicist send Dobrev a fake invitation to an intimate CFDA/Vogue dinner with Anna Wintour. However, instead of Wintour, she found White ready to propose. “He said all the right things,” she recalled to the outlet.

White first shared the happy news on Instagram with a series of photos taken after she said yes with the caption, “She said YES.”

Dobrev reshared the same photos on Instagram, writing, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
