CBS NFL crew breaks tables for Bills Mafia before Chiefs game
As a rowdy collection of Bills Mafia members watched from behind the set, four members of the “NFL Today” crew jumped through folding tables — a traditional pregame move of Bills fans — during CBS’ pregame show ahead of Buffalo’s Chiefs- clash on Sunday afternoon.
Nate Burleson had perhaps the most impressive performance of the four, even throwing half the table away with his hand, while legendary NFL coach Bill Cowher, former Texans star JJ Watt and longtime quarterback Matt Ryan jumped through the air and broke the plastic. tables.
Watt went first, Ryan stood next to the table and jokingly asked if Watt — with 114.5 sacks over his NFL career — wanted him to stand there and pretend he was rushing a quarterback.
Then, after Watt broke his table, Burleson, who had spent 11 years in the NFL as a wide receiver, shouted, “Bring in another table, bring in another table,” built a lot of anticipation and then delivered.
And after jumping, Cowher — who previously broke a wooden folding table in the regular “NFL Today” studio when the Bills broke their playoff drought and returned to the postseason in January 2018 — took off his jacket and broke another table made, before Ryan added his jacket. jump and host James Brown mimicked the move as the segment went to a commercial break.
CBS opted to host its pregame show from Orchard Park on Sunday, with the Chiefs looking to remain undefeated and the Bills looking to build on their recent regular-season success against Kansas City in the final showdown between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Even when the game didn’t start at Orchard Park until 4:25 p.m., many Bills fans gathered around the CBS set for their early pregame show that started at 12 p.m., and Watt even led the “Hey-ey-ey-ey” -singing with the crowd.
The Bills lost back-to-back games to the Ravens and Texans earlier this season, but they have since won five straight games and can move closer to Kansas City in the race for the AFC’s top seed in the postseason.
Last year, Buffalo hosted Kansas City in the postseason with fans for the first time — making it the first true road playoff game of Mahomes’ career — but still lost when Tyler Bass missed a field goal that went into overtime would have forced the final seconds. of the divisional round.
The Chiefs eventually defeated the 49ers for their second straight Super Bowl weeks later.
