Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins wasn’t sure if Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic would play Sunday night at FedExForum. Jenkins and his staff created two game plans so he wasn’t caught off guard when Jokic was ruled out for personal reasons prior to the game.
Memphis looked primed and ready for a Nuggets offense that had them missing their biggest piece. The Grizzlies defense made things difficult for Denver with a 105-90 victory.
The Grizzlies (8-6) were led in scoring by Jaren Jackson Jr., who had a game-high 20 points. In his second game back from an oblique strain, Desmond Bane returned to the starting lineup and secured a double-double. He finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
A total of eleven Grizzlies players played double-digit minutes. All eleven scored and recorded at least one rebound.
Memphis is back in action on Tuesday against the Nuggets (7-5) at FedExForum.

Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart has been ruled out due to illness. Smart recently returned to play after missing six games due to an ankle injury. His absence will mean minutes on the perimeter for Vince Williams Jr., Desmond Bane, Jaylen Wells and Luke Kennard.
