Why Justin Herbert loves Jim Harbaugh catching pregame warmup passes
And don’t assume Herbert will slow down when his Head Coach is on the receiving end of the pregame throws.
“I’ll throw it at him like I would anyone else,” Herbert said with a smile on Wednesday. “We respect him as a pass catcher and we understand that he is a professional. He gets the same passes as everyone else.”
During nine matches the Bolts are 6-3 and have surpassed their 2023 win total to be firmly in the AFC play-off race.
Both Herbert and Harbaugh have played key roles in that turnaround, but the quarterback said Wednesday there’s no doubt Harbaugh’s love for the game has rubbed off on the entire organization.
“I still love it,” Herbert said. “We go there for the warm-up and you know he’s going to be there and you have no doubt he’s going to try to catch every pass.
“It’s kind of fun to go out there and understand that your head coaching is catching passes from the quarterback,” Herbert continued. I think it means a lot to the quarterbacks. We go out and have fun with him and know that this is everything for him.
“It’s refreshing to see,” Herbert added. “You don’t see that very often, especially in the NFL. It’s really cool to have a guy like that.”
