What Bills QB Josh Allen said about his incredible game-clinching TD run against Chiefs
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has averaged around 60 rushing yards per game in his seven previous games against the Kansas City Chiefs, and so it’s only fitting that he would make the key play with his legs during their Week 11 matchup.
Up 23-21 late in the fourth quarter, Allen and co. faced a fourth-and-2 in Kansas City territory, a field goal that did little for the team. So Buffalo relied on Allen to gain the necessary yardage, and he picked it up and then some, breaking off a tremendous 26-yard touchdown run that all but sealed the game for the Bills. He finished the game with a 67.5% completion percentage, 317 yards and two total touchdowns, but it’s his fourth quarterback touchdown run that is expected to get the most buzz.
Allen spoke about his quick score after knocking off the previously undefeated Chiefs, telling reporters he “just made a play.”

“Fourth and two, appreciate coach for trusting us,” Allen said. “I really had a man play (coverage), I could have settled it, they had a pretty good man look. They broke down in the zone. Again, just trying to create the play and keep it alive. There was a crease and I just trusted the feet.
“Any time you give the ball back to Pat (Mahomes) and leave that offense down six with the game on the line, I’ll tell you what: They like their chances in that situation. “I want to get six or seven to try and make it a two-point game.”
It may have been just another play for Allen, but in the grand scheme of things, these are the kind of plays that win MVP awards. Video of the play has gone viral on social media, with fans and pundits from around the league reacting to the quarterback’s heroics.
Next Gen Stats added some context to the game, writing that Allen had just a 1.2% chance of scoring six along the way.
Buffalo is coming off a key win and is now just two wins away from claiming its fifth consecutive AFC East championship. With just six games remaining, the Bills now enter their bye week, which provides a much-needed break. Given Buffalo’s extensive injury list, this extra week off should help with the players’ recovery and rest as they prepare for the final push.
Perhaps this push will culminate with Allen’s first NFL MVP nod.
