Monday Night Football Open Thread: Houston Texans at Arlington Cokeboys
Once every four years we get to relive the first game the Houston Texans ever played. For those of you too young to remember (personal note: crap, I’m old), the Texans’ very first game in franchise history was a Monday night showdown against Quincy Carter and the Dallas Cowboys.
The Texans were understandably the underdogs going into their very first game; and let’s be honest: the hype surrounding the Cowboys is as undeserved as it is unrelenting.
Funny how some things never change even after all these years.
And neither team has won a Super Bowl in that same span. Go figure.
Anyway, despite the odds, the Houston Texans won their first game in team history 19-10 against these Cowboys and for their owner Jerry Jones, who I’m pretty sure hasn’t aged a day since and that’s not a compliment .
It seems fitting that this rematch is even happening on Monday Night Football again. The Texans enter tonight’s game reeling from their first losing streak of the season.
If there is any justice in the universe, this losing streak ends tonight. We will know within a few hours whether that is the case.
Here’s what you need to know for tonight’s match:
