Mike Bresnahan on what he saw LeBron and Anthony Davis do on the bench when Dalton Knecht left
Dalton Knecht has been a real find for the Los Angeles Lakers, with the rookie sensation emerging as a dangerous three-point shooter.
LeBron James took a swipe at the 16 NBA teams that picked ahead of them in the NBA Draft, who passed over Dalton Knecht.
Knecht admitted he didn’t mind falling to 17th because he now has the privilege of playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis for the LA Lakers.
And the feeling is mutual. Davis has already talked about how he admires Knecht, and has tried to encourage the rookie to take off the shackles.
Servant makes an impression
Dalton Knecht is thriving and was back in the starting lineup against San Antonio, with Lakers fans unhappy that he was eliminated the two games before.
This was highlighted by Lakers expert Mike Bresnahan during the post-game show after the win over the Spurs.
He thinks Knecht has cemented his spot as a starter: “I think he will stay there for the rest of the year. I don’t see how you can push Dalton Knecht out of that starting five. It adds a different element to the game.”
He added that when Knecht went off for 37 points against the Jazz, he saw real excitement among the Lakers superstars.
Bresnahan said: “That game where Dalton had nine threes. They were so happy, LeBron and AD, it was like a party on the couch.
“Just like ‘wow’ the 17th pick in the NBA Draft, we finally found our shooter.”
He added that he believes the anger over the Lakers missing out on Buddy Hield and Klay Thompson in recent free agency periods may now subside a bit.
