CS reviews the progress of implementation of SBM (G), development of Panchayat Index

SRINAGAR, MAY 3: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the progress of preparation of Panchayat Development Index (PDI) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director General Rural Sanitation, Anu Malhotra, Secretary RDD, Director RDD and other concerned officials attended the meeting in person and virtually.

The meeting focused on various indicators used to evaluate the performance of panchayats across development parameters, including configuration of mandatory and optional indicators, data verification processes and field office updates. In addition, progress on configuration of data points for locked indicators, District Confidence Frames (DCFs) published by J&K, and PDI portal opened for data entry was also reviewed.

Furthermore, discussions were held on the weight given to each indicator and its significance in formulating this index. Moreover, formats for data collection sent to line divisions and development of dashboards for both Kashmir and Jammu divisions were also discussed.

Dulloo emphasized the importance of close coordination between departments to ensure timely data updates on the PDI portal for all districts.

In addition, the meeting also looked at the performance distribution across the districts since January 2024. The meeting also discussed the status of achieving the ODF+ Model category by the villages of J&K under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) .

Director General Rural Sanitation, Anu Malhotra, presented a detailed report highlighting key achievements in this area. The meeting discussed the status of door-to-door waste collection, Annual Implementation Plan 2024-25, utilization status of SBM funds, Swachhata Green Leaf assessment for hospitality facilities and existing waste management initiatives, besides challenges faced by the department, along with possible solutions worth implementing by the department.
