William H. Macy says she’s an ‘amazing’ woman, Felicity Huffman returns to acting

William H. Macy couldn’t be more excited for his wife Felicity Huffman amid her big return to acting.

After serving her sentence in the college admissions scandal, Huffman has slowly dipped her toes back into the acting world. She made her British stage debut earlier this year in a revival of Taylor Mac Rent. Later she appeared The good doctor and voiced a character on the Supreme: The Battle for Roe.

PEOPLE then confirmed in April that Huffman, 61, will guest star in Season 2 of the series Criminal minds spinoff Criminal Minds: Evolution. And according to Macy, the actress had “a great time” filming the show.

“It was great! I went to see her on set a few times,” says Macy (74). Entertainment tonight of his wife’s return to the screen after her involvement in the nationwide college admissions scandal. ‘I also think she did a great job. I’m really glad she’s working.’

The Shameless star told the outlet that he and Huffman, who have been married since 1997, “talk the talk” when it comes to their shared careers.

In Criminal Minds: EvolutionHuffman will star as Dr. Jill Gideon – the ex-wife of the late Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin). Her character is “a brilliant biological psychiatrist, who agrees to help the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory,” according to a description from the streamer.

“Jill is hesitant to return to the agency’s elite team given her complicated history with David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and her late ex-husband, Jason Gideon (formerly played by original series star Mandy Patinkin), but already realizes quickly that her specific skills could be this. help them uncover a new clue to the elusive Gold Star mystery.”

Her casting-in Criminal Minds: Evolution came three and a half years after she served her full sentence for the October 2020 college admissions scandal, including prison time, community service and supervised release.

Huffman was previously set to star in the legal spinoff of The good doctortitled The good lawyerbut ABC decided not to move forward with the show after the writers’ strikes, according to Deadline.

She made her first TV appearance after prison playing Janet Stewart in an episode of The good doctoraired in March 2023. She told me later The guard that it is “difficult” to act again since the national scandal.
