Washington (US), May 3: French film director Louis Leterrier has been tapped to direct and produce the science fiction horror film ‘11817’, based on a script by Matthew Robinson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Leterrier is known as a very reliable director of big-budget, effects-heavy films such as Clash of the Titans, the Transporter films starring Jason Statham and Universal’s The Incredible Hulk. His films have earned $2 billion at the box office worldwide.

“Directing projects where the audience gets behind the characters has always been my focus. No matter how complex, flawed and heroic, we identify with them as we go through their journey. That’s what excites me about the completely original concept of 11817 and the family at the heart of our story This is an experience that movie audiences will not forget,” Leterrier said in a statement Thursday.

A family of four is permanently trapped in their home due to unexplained circumstances in ‘11817’. To survive and outwit the person or thing that traps them, the family must learn to be resourceful as both modern comforts and necessities run out.

In ‘11817’, inexplicable forces hold a family of four captive in their home indefinitely. With both modern luxuries and life-or-death essentials running out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart whoever or whatever is holding them captive. Leterrier will share producing credits with Thomas Benski, Omar Sy, Lars Sylvest, Kori Adelson, Oly Obst, Thorsten Schumacher and Joe Neurauter. Cecile Gaget is an executive producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
