Jessie James Decker Gets Candid About Her Insecurities About Her Post-Baby Body: ‘I Now Weigh 30 Pounds More’

Jessie James Decker talks about her body weight after the baby.

The singer to suit in February and has mixed feelings about her resulting weight gain.

Decker, 36, shares four children – Eric Thomas, Forrest Bradley, Vivianne Rose and Denver Calloway – with husband Erik37, that one vasectomy one month after welcoming baby No. 4. For Decker, having children has changed her relationship with her body.

“I’ll be honest, I really didn’t want to post any of these kittenish swim pics because I now weigh 30 pounds more than I did this time last year,” Decker wrote on Instagram, alongside two photos of herself in an orange bikini from her swimwear brand Kittenish. “Yes, I know I only had a baby three months ago, but it’s easy to compare here and wonder why my body prefers to hold it more than others.”

She believes that the expectations people place on new mothers to recover from their weight gain during pregnancy are unrealistic.

“The pressure we put on ourselves is not realistic,” she said.

Her post serves as a reminder for women to be gentle with themselves after having a baby.

“So this is a reminder to myself and to you,” Decker continued. “Be kind to yourself. Give yourself grace. We are healing after nine months of becoming human. And if you’re like me and breastfeeding and your body needs to hold on to as much weight as possible to keep making milk, let it be let’s make it happen. Focus on that sweet new baby, because that’s what it’s all about. Plenty of time to ‘come back’ when it’s time. But for now, together Xoxo.”

Decker’s friends flooded the comments with support.

“I know we’ve had this conversation many times, but I love you for posting this, because knowing someone as wonderful as you is also part of this is a reminder that we’re not alone You are a cool mother and a beautiful person!” said mother of two Jamie Lynn Spears.

“YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL NOW AND ALWAYS!!!!” Olivia Culpo wrote, adding “#milf” in a second comment.

Many mothers thanked Decker for being realistic about her body image.

“I’m also 3 months pp and needed this,” one commenter wrote.

By being vulnerable and discussing her postpartum experience, Decker helps other mothers embrace the change that happens naturally to their bodies.
