Jewish comedian Michael Rapaport responds to the cancellation of his show due to safety reasons: ‘Very f***ed up!’

Anti-Israel protests at the University of Wisconsin-Madison raised security concerns about an upcoming Michael Rapaport comedy show.

The Jewish actor and comedian, who has been outspoken about his support for Israel, confirmed that his planned show at comedy club Comedy on State had been canceled in response to a comment on social media Thursday.

“YEP!!! Very Very F-ked Up!” he wrote on

The decision to cancel the sold-out show was made to “ensure the safety and well-being” of those involved, according to an email sent by the comedy club to ticket holders. Radio host Dan O’Donnell shared the email in a post on X.

“We are reaching out to inform you of an important update regarding our upcoming Thursday show with Michael Rapaport,” the message began.

“In light of the current situation downtown, marked by escalating protests and a contentious nature of dialogue on current issues, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Thursday’s show with Michael Rapaport,” the email said .

“The safety and well-being of our spectators, staff and community are our top priorities, and we believe this decision is in the best interests of everyone involved,” the report continued.

“We understand that this news may be disappointing and we would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. It was never our intention to place our audience in a position of discomfort or risk, and we are deeply sorry for any fear or uncertainty this situation may have caused,” the message said.

The comedy club assured that the tickets would be fully refunded.

Rapaport addressed the cancellation on his podcast.

“I didn’t want to, didn’t think it would come to a point where my beliefs and standing up for what I think is right regarding Jews, regarding Israel, regarding being Jewish and what exactly is right, in a would get to a point where a club would cancel my show because they were afraid an incident would happen,” he said.

“Yet here we are and I’m ashamed of it,” the 54-year-old comedian added.

The left-wing actor was also an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, but after illegal migrants attacked NYPD officers earlier this year, Rapaport said voting for Trump in November is “on the table.”

Pro-Palestinian protesters set up an encampment on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, but police were called in to break up the camp.
