Speeder escapes from Des Plaines police as soon as he turns onto I-90

The driver of a Mercedes Benz who allegedly committed numerous speeding and lane violations in Des Plaines on Wednesday, May 1, managed to elude a police car as it reached the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90).

A Des Plaines police officer was observing traffic near Howard Avenue and Lee Street at 9:35 p.m. when he observed a black Mercedes Benz disobey the stop sign while traveling south on Lee Street, turning east on Howard Avenue and then disobeyed a stop sign at Howard Avenue and Ash Street before entering a parking lot in the 2000 block of Ash Street.

The officer activated his overhead emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop as the vehicle pulled out of the parking lot and onto Howard Avenue. The Mercedes-Benz fled at a high rate of speed and committed multiple speeding and lane violations in an attempt to elude the officer, reports said. The vehicle was last seen entering the eastbound ramp of I-190.
