Bolangir Hottest at 45°C; Mercury drops below 40 in Twin City

Bhubaneswar: The heat wave continues to prevail in Odisha as the maximum temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius in most cities in Odisha and Balangir has become the hottest place in the state.

The city of Bolangr today turned a frying pan with a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature in sister city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar dipped below 40 degrees today.

As many as 27 cities witnessed temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Angul and Nuapada emerged as the second and third hottest cities at 44.7 and 44.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to the bulletin issued by the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Center, the mercury touched 44.7 degrees C in Angul, 44.6 in Nuapada, 44.5 in Talcher, 44.5 in Titilagarh, 44.3 in Boudh, 43.4 in Baripada , 43 in Bhawanipatna, 42 in Sambalpur, 42.8 in Dhenkanal, 42.6 degrees in Jharsuguda, 42.6 degrees in Malkangari, 42.5 degrees in Nayagarh, 42.2 degrees in Sundargarh, 42.1 degrees in Hirakud, 42.1 degrees in Keonjhar, 41.9 in Phulbani.

Heat wave prevailed in Bolangir, Boudh, Nuapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Nayagarh districts.

The IMD predicted no possibility of significant change in day temperature during the next three days. After that, the daytime temperature will probably drop by 3 to 4 degrees.
