“I feel very happy here”

Niels Nkounkou discusses the meeting with Leverkusen, his first season in Frankfurt and the competition with Philipp Max.

Niels Nkounkou about…

…the upcoming match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen: “The motivation is always the same, no matter who we play against. We try to win every match. We work hard in training. Leverkusen still hasn’t lost, but we will prepare as best we can to win the match.”

…the rest of the season: “We only focus on our performance. There are still three games to go, then we will see what it looks like at the end of the season.”

…his season so far: “The season isn’t over yet, but looking back I’m pretty happy with how I did. The first year is never easy, especially in the Bundesliga. I settled in quickly and well and everyone helped me very well. I have played in different positions. I prefer to play as a left back, but I will always adapt; We have different systems.”

…the competition on the left: “The competition is good for both of us. Philipp Max is a very good player. We have different qualities that we can bring to the field. The competition forces us to give our best performances during training and matches, which I generally consider very positive and which helps us in our development.”

…his future: “I also moved to France to have more stability in my career. I had many clubs in the years before that. I can say very clearly that I have no intention of changing clubs. I feel very happy here and will be here next season too.”
