Lake Region shines at the U-32 track and field meet

EAST MONTPELIER – Lake Region’s track and field teams had strong performances at the U-32 meet on Wednesday, with both boys and girls teams posting multiple top finishes in several events.

The girls team was buoyed by their throwing squad as Madi Bowman and Heather Alexander recorded victories in the discus and javelin respectively. Brooklyn Hinton also contributed significant points, finishing fourth in the discus and third in the shot put.

On the track, the sprinters excelled with the 4×100 relay team (Indie Haney, Alayna Azur, Madi Bowman, Bella Hanover) taking second place. Maeda Urie placed third in the 300-meter hurdles, while the 4×400 relay team finished fourth.

In the field events, Heather Alexander and Maeda Urie placed second and fourth respectively in the high jump, while Bella Hanover and Natalie Rowell showed their prowess in the long jump and pole vault.

The boys’ team saw standout performances from Luc Oliver, who won the long jump. Adler Lahar and Oscar Forsay contributed to the team’s success with second and third place finishes in the javelin.

Ethan Gratton-Derbyshire also impressed, finishing second in the 300m hurdles. The boys 4×100 relay team finished fourth and Caleb Greenwood earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump.

Overall, the girls team placed third in a competitive field of ten teams, marking a strong performance in their first major competition of the season.
