The car came to rest on its side in a field near Crediton

Police are currently monitoring traffic near the entrance to Dewsmoor on the A377 between Crediton and Barnstaple Cross due to a single-vehicle road traffic collision that has left a Volkswagen car stalled in a field.

The car ended up on its side after crashing through a hedge at around 4.15pm today, Thursday 2 May.

The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

His condition is unknown.

A recovery vehicle is currently collecting the vehicle from the field, where the road is partially closed and traffic is controlled by police.

There is a lot of water flowing on the road surface in the area and motorists are advised to drive carefully.
